The invention relates to transportation. The municipal cableway comprises end and intermediate passenger stations which are interconnected by means of tracks. The end and intermediate passenger stations are equipped with conveyors for stopping passenger carriages, and intermediate supports are mounted between the stations. The drive is discrete and comprises mechatronic propelling devices, all of the motors of which have a single control unit and are interconnected according to the electric shaft principle. The cableway is provided with transfer stations which are equipped with conveyors having a system for mechanically switching the passenger carriages onto other routes and with a minimum of two independent tracks connected to all of the stations in the same direction, said independent tracks consisting of one or more traction and load-bearing cables. The traction cables are supported on continuous elastic traction members of the mechatronic propelling devices of the discrete drive, which members are mounted on the intermediate supports. The kinematic chain of the mechatronic propelling device comprises one or more motors, a working brake, joints of equal angular speeds, and a system of rolling rocker arms, in which at least one of the rollers of one of the rocker arms is provided with an emergency brake. The reliability and safety of the transport are increased as a result.
