PURPOSE: A media device and an operation method are provided to wirelessly connect the media device and an external device when signal intensity of a received signal is over a predetermined value, thereby conveniently connecting the external device. CONSTITUTION: When signal intensity of a received signal is over a predetermined value, a media device transmits a response signal corresponding to a wireless connection request signal to an external device(S520,S530). The media device connects the external device and exchanges data(S540). When the signal intensity is under the predetermined value, the media device determines key input for security connection(S525). When the key input is existed, the media device transmits the response signal corresponding to the wireless connection request signal to the external device.
