The invention relates to a rail assembly for rail transport, comprising at least one rail (1) having a rail base (2) and a rail head (3) and a jacket (4) that at least partly encloses said rail (1) when seen in the cross-sectional view. According to the invention, a base section (5) of the jacket (4) is arranged in a mounted state below the rail base (2). Sidewall sections (6) of the jacket (4) are in each case arranged on the base section (5), in particular in an integral manner, while seals (7) are in each case arranged on the sidewall sections (6) of the jacket (4). The invention is characterized in that the seals (7) rest against essentially the rail head (3) of the rail (1), said seals (7) being pressed on the rail (1) by means of a pretension of the jacket (4).
