The support system comprises at least one main support element 2 and at least one peripheral support element 6. The main elements each have at least one straight recess to receive a linear section of pipe 4 and the peripheral elements each have at least one curved recess to receive a rounded section 8 of pipe. When adjacent main and peripheral elements are abutted against one another, the curved recess of the peripheral element is spaced from the straight recess of the main element. This prevents pipes being pinched by abutted elements when the elements are not correctly aligned. Ideally, the peripheral elements are T-shaped or M-shaped (figures 6-7) and have a plurality of curved and straight recesses, each including an integral retainer (40, figure 2) to hold pipe in the recess. Curved recesses of the peripheral elements may each have different radius of curvature to receive different shaped bends of pipe. The peripheral elements preferably comprise a frangible configuration 14 that divides the element into first 10 and second 12 sections, enabling unwanted sections to be broken-off during installation. The peripheral elements may also include a lip and slot (54,56, figure 5) to facilitate interlocking with adjacent peripheral elements. |
