A cooker comprises a cabinet oven 1, to one side of which is hinged a flap 5 supporting hot plates 6 or gas burners for use when 'the flap 5 is swung to a horizontal position and the flap when turned up to a vertical position fits into a recess 4b in one side of the oven backed by a heat-insulating wall 4c. The hot plates or burners 6 are controlled by knobs 10 on one side of the flap. These knobs have diametrical bar-like projections 11 and are positioned to co-operate with slots 13 in a strip 12 on the oven, so that the flap cannot be turned completely vertical unless all the control knobs 10 are in the "off" position- The heaters 6 are carried on a frame unit 5a which is hinged to the flap 5, so that the unit 5a may be swung up from the flap for cleaning or repairs. The edge of the flap 5 adjacent the hinge has a lip or rim 9 whereby, when the flap 5 is turned up, any fluid thereon will drain into a receptacle 8 removably supported in the bottom of the recess 4b to slide out therefrom endwise. When the heaters 6 are gas burners, gas is supplied thereto through a pipe 14 with flexible connections. The flap when horizontal may rest on a table and may carry adjustable and retractable supports, or the flap hinge could have stops to ensure the horizontal position. |
