PURPOSE: A device for driving a rotary table of a machine tool is provided to control a backlash of entire gear by independently controlling a backlash of an input gear with an output gear. CONSTITUTION: A device for driving a rotary table of a machine tool comprises a pivot gear(10), a driving pinion(20), a power transmitting unit, and a driving motor(M). The pivot gear is equipped on a rotary shaft of the rotary table, integrally shaft-rotates with the rotary table, and is formed into a taper gear. The driving pinion is equipped to be controlled in the shaft direction with respect to the pivot gear and is engaged in the pivot gear by forming into the taper gear.
