A system and method of enabling group subscription for asynchronous push-based applications on wireless devices are provided. The system comprises an application gateway server (118) including an event sink for communicating between the system and a device. The application gateway server is configured for communication with a back-end service via an event source and includes a subscription collection (606) for storing subscriptions to event sources and a subscriber collection (610) for identifying the device applications subscribed to an event source using one of the subscriptions stored in the subscription collection.
