METHOD OF MULTI-VIEW IMAGE FORMATION AND STEREOSCOPIC IMAGE DISPLAY DEVICE USING THE SAME

PURPOSE: A multi-view image generation method and a 3D image display device are provided to search an area that a background is hidden by an object which is caused by an incorrect depth map and to substitute minimal depth of a background area for depth of the hidden area. CONSTITUTION: A 3D image display device samples an input image by using a 2D image and a depth map and converts the 2D image and the depth map into a luminance image and a color image(S101,S102). The 3D image display device detects an edge each luminance image of the 2D image and the depth map and quantizes edge detection images of the 2D image and the depth map(S103,S104). The 3D image display device detects an area that a background is hidden by an object and substitutes a minimal value of depth of a background area for depth of the hidden area(S106,S107).
