PURPOSE: A sulfonated poly(arylene ether) copolymer is provided to have excellent physical performance, hydrogen ion conductivity, ion exchange performance, and a metal ion absorption, and to be easily processed. CONSTITUTION: A sulfonated poly(arylene ether) copolymer comprises a repeating unit indicated in chemical formula 1 or 2. In the chemical formulas, X is a single bond or Ar1; each of M1, M2, M3, M4, M5, M6, M7, and M8 is hydrogen, lithium, sodium or potassium; a+b=5; c+d=5; each of a and c is an integer from 1-5; each of b, c, e, and f is an integer from 0-4; each of R1, R2, R3, and R4 is hydrogen, a C1-20 linear or branched alkyl group, a C2-20 alkenyl group, a C2-20 alkynyl group, a C5-20 cycloalkyl group, a C6-20 aryl group, a C2-20 heteroaryl group, a C7-20 alkylaryl group, or a C1-20 alkoxy group; and n is 10-10,000. |
