The present invention relates to an infrared reflecting black pigment which comprises a composite oxide containing Fe, Co and at least one metal selected from the group consisting of Al, Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, Ti, Zn, Sn, Zr, Si and Cu; has an average plate surface diameter of 0.02 to 5.0 mum, a blackness (L* value) of not more than 30, an average reflectance of not more than 10% in a visible light wavelength range of 250 to 780 nm and an average reflectance of not less than 35% in an infrared wavelength range of 780 to 2500 nm. There is provided an infrared reflecting black pigment which is capable of producing a heat-shielding paint containing no harmful elements and exhibiting an excellent infrared reflecting property. |
