摘要 |
A subbing solution suitable for bonding a hydrophilic colloid to a polycarbonate film base comprises an aqueous organic solvent solution containing as its essential components gelatin, an alkylene carbonate having up to 4 carbon atoms, cellulose nitrate and a copolymer of an alkyl acrylate and an alkyl methacrylate wherein the alkyl groups each have from 1-4 carbon atoms. Specified organic solvents include methanol, ethanol, diacetone alcohol, acetone and butyl "Cellosolve" (Registered Trade Mark). An organic acid, e.g. acetic, phthalic or salicylic acid may be added as a dispersing agent for the gelatin, and a hardening agent, e.g. glyoxal, may also be present. The preferred copolymer is that of ethyl methacrylate and methyl acrylate, but copolymers of methyl acrylate-methyl methacrylate, ethyl acrylate-ethyl methacrylate and ethyl acrylatemethyl methacrylate may also be used. The subbing solution may be made by adding the warmed gelatin solution to the solution of the alkylene carbonate and adding to this a solution containing nitrocellulose and the alkyl acrylatealkyl methacrylate copolymer. Preferred proportions are: gelatin 0,5 -1 g., alkylene carbonate 60-75 c.c., glyoxal 0,002-0,01 g. and organic acid 0,2-0,5 g., all per 100 c.c. solution.
