<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a long life catalyst for hydrolyzing a plant-based material, which can hydrolyze the plant-based material with the use of low energy, produce a desired sugar in a high yield, and stand repeated use. <P>SOLUTION: A catalyst for hydrolyzing a plant-based material, according to an embodiment, includes a carrier containing zirconia, sulfate radicals carried by the carrier, and at least one metal which is carried by the carrier and selected from the group consisting of platinum, palladium, and ruthenium. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
