POWER SOURCE CONTROL METHOD, POWER SOURCE CONTROL APPARATUS, AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately notify the outside and the surroundings of the abnormal state while saving energy when an abnormality has occurred in an image forming apparatus or the like.

SOLUTION: The power source control method is used for the image forming apparatus 1 which is operated by power which is fed from an outside power source 36. The image forming apparatus 1 includes a subsidiary power source 37 which can feed power independently from the outside power source. An abnormal signal indicating that the image forming apparatus is under an abnormal state is output to external appliances by a communication means 81 by using power which is fed from the outside power source 36 when the fact that the image forming apparatus is under the abnormal state has been determined by monitoring the state of the image forming apparatus. Then, the feeding of power from the outside power source is shut off after the outputting of the abnormal signal, and the surroundings are notified of the fact that the image forming apparatus is under the abnormal state by a warning means 82 by using power which is fed from the subsidiary power source 37.
