<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of accurately performing auto focusing at a high speed without deterioration in accuracy or large increase of calculation amount even when performing a contrast AF by an image signal read by an imaging element by using an interlace system and an imaging method. <P>SOLUTION: An AF processing unit 117 calculates an AF evaluation value from an image signal read in an interlaced system from an imaging element 106. The AF processing unit 117 determines whether AF evaluation values of multiple continuous fields show a distribution in which the values continuously and repeatedly increase and decrease. When the AF evaluation values show such a distribution, the AF processing unit 117 calculates a median value of the AF evaluation values between adjacent fields, and obtains an interpolation curve of the median value by a first interpolation calculation so as to calculate a focal position. When the AF evaluation values do not show such a distribution, the AF processing unit 117 obtains an interpolation curve of the AF evaluation values of the continuous fields so as to calculate a focal position. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
