<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve 3D image quality. <P>SOLUTION: There is provided a projection apparatus including a color synthesis section, a polarization conversion section, and a projection lens. The color synthesis section is configured to combine three-primary color light and emit combined light. The polarization conversion section is disposed on a light-emission side of the color synthesis section, the polarization conversion section being configured to convert the polarization state of each color light in the combined light into a non-polarized state uniformly in all directions. The projection lens is configured to project the light emitted by the polarization conversion section. The polarization conversion section uses is of a wavelength-selective 1/2 waveplate that produces a phase shift of π with respect to a predetermined wavelength, a uniaxial organic material that is an organic material having one optical axis, and a uniaxial crystal that is a crystal having one optical axis. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
