PURPOSE: An encoder correction method and a device thereof are provided to re-correct wrong correction caused by a discontinuous section when applying power in a continuous section, thereby minimizing correction errors caused by the discontinuous section. CONSTITUTION: An encoder correction method is as follows. If an absolute position encoder of a servo motor is a discontinuous section, error flags are set and are notified to a user(S12,S14). If the absolute position encoder is out of the discontinuous section, a relative position encoder is corrected(S16).
