Lithium-iron phosphate having an olivine crystal structure has a composition expressed by the chemical formula (I) LFeM(PO)X(where M is selected from Al, Mg, Ti; X is selected from F, S, N; -0.5?a?+0.5; 0?x?0.5; and 0?b?0.1 ), contains 0.1-5 wt % LiPOand does not contain or contains less than 0.25 wt % LiCO.
