<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a privacy protection method capable of effectively protecting privacy in response to various situations without requiring a user to make complicated setting, a device for vehicle, a communication system for vehicle and a portable terminal. <P>SOLUTION: Restriction object information which is information related to privacy of a holder of a portable terminal and whose usage in the side of a device for vehicle is to be restricted is identified among information stored in the side of the portable terminal, according to a specified procedure.
