<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bearing cap reduced in weight more than before. <P>SOLUTION: The bearing cap 4 includes a supporting surface 41 of a half cylindrical surface shape, which rotatably supports a journal part 31 of a crankshaft 3, and abutting surfaces 42, 42, which abut on the lower surface of a cylinder block 2 at both sides of the supporting surface 41.
