PURPOSE: A traffic signal system capable of monitoring power consumption and a power management method thereof are provided to control a traffic light connected to a traffic signal controller or to remotely turn on and off the power of the traffic signal controller without directly accessing the traffic signal controller. CONSTITUTION: A traffic signal controller(100) supplies power to a traffic light(S), controls the flickering, and measures and transmits power consumption in real time. A traffic information server(300) receives and monitors the real time power consumption from the traffic signal controller. The traffic information server outputs a warning message on a screen by voice to a manager when the traffic light and the traffic signal are abnormal or the power is illegally stolen at the traffic signal controller after analyzing the real time power consumption of the traffic signal controller. A traffic control server receives a traffic light control signal for traffic light control or a power control signal from the manager for turning on and off the main power of the traffic signal controller and transmits the traffic light control signal or the power control signal to the traffic signal controller. The traffic signal controller controls the operation of the traffic light according to the traffic light control signal received from the traffic information server and turns on and off the main power according to the power control signal received from the traffic information server.
