FIELD: process engineering.SUBSTANCE: proposed method comprises low-pressure cooling of rolls. Optimised protection of rolls against thermomechanical fatigue and wear in the wide range of rolling sizes and conditions is ensured by subjecting rolls to low- and high-pressure cooling at a time. Note here that said rolls are directly sprayed with high-pressure cooling fluid in high-pressure cooling. Note also that, in low-pressure cooling, cooling fluid is fed from moving segments of cooling shell, said segments being articulated and arranged opposite partial area of the roll.
