PURPOSE: A material gripper for a machine tool is provided to prevent safety accidents by automatically detaching a workpiece processed in a rod shape and to precisely process the dimensions of the component by precisely adjusting the center of a chuck and a material in a straight line. CONSTITUTION: A material gripper for a machine tool comprises a body(1), a hollow guide shaft(2), and a piston. The guide shaft includes a long groove(21) to a cylinder(11) in a longitudinal direction and a piston shaft connected to a position through the long groove. The piston shaft includes an inlet and an outlet communicating with one side and the other side. The inlet is exposed to the long groove for flowing the operating fluid filled inside the cylinder. The outlet can discharge or prevent the operating fluid from discharging by selectively being exposed or sealed to a fluid discharging hole of a tool shaft(12) according to the movement of the piston shaft.
