PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform track control while compensating off-set resulting from radial tilt when performing track control of a main beam by detecting tracking information provided in a reference layer of a spatial recording medium with a guide beam.

SOLUTION: First mark pair columns in which mark pairs 29A, 29B are arranged at a track pitch in a radial direction, and other mark pair columns in which mark pairs 30A, 30B are arranged at a track pitch in the radial direction are formed. The other mark pair columns are arranged while shifted from the first mark pair columns by a predetermined distance in the radial direction. One of a plurality of track error signals generated from the plurality of mark pair columns is selected to thereby be able to eliminate an uncontrollable area to perform track control.
