<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor-driven compressor, capable of securing the insulating property of a conductive portion by preventing liquid refrigerant from an external refrigerant circuit from being accumulated within a housing. <P>SOLUTION: The motor-driven compressor 10 includes: an electric motor 12 having a rotating shaft 29; a compression mechanism 11 which is connected to the rotating shaft 29 and performs compression of refrigerant by the drive of the motor 12; a metallic housing 13 for housing the motor 12 and compression mechanism 11; a suction passage S of refrigerant, which is connected to a suction port 17 formed in the housing 13 and communicates with the inside of the housing 13; a discharge passage D for the refrigerant discharged from the compression mechanism 11, which communicates with the inside of the housing 13.
