<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the safety of an apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: On start up, a CPU 28 determines whether abnormality occurs in each unit of an imaging unit 10. As a result, if determined that abnormality has occurred, data recorded in a built-in memory 24 is backed up in an external memory 26, and a diagnostic result generation unit 20 executes self diagnosis of the apparatus to collect state information on the apparatus.
