<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems that, when using a method of generating a rib by removing an unneeded part from a solid design space in the case of designing the rib for reinforcing strength of an article by topology optimization processing, a shape after optimization is often an inappropriate shape because an excess part remains or the like, and a calculation amount is large and processing takes time in the rib design method. <P>SOLUTION: Inside a spatial model, a planar shell model set to a roughly planar shape part of an article to be provided with the rib is acquired, and the acquired shell model is divided into a plurality of elements. Also, an optimization condition including a constraint condition and an objective function corresponding to a boundary condition of the article is acquired. Topology optimization is performed to the shell model divided into the plurality of elements so as to satisfy the optimization condition, and optimum shape information which is information indicating an optimum shape after optimization processing is outputted.
