PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric brake device capable of suppressing variation in the amount of brake operation required from the start of brake operation until the start of actual application of braking force to wheels when a driver operates a brake after the release of a parking brake, and a brake system for a vehicle.

SOLUTION: The electric brake device 14 includes an adjuster nut 68 advancing/retreating in the width direction of the vehicle based on driving force generated by an electric motor 66, and a brake control device 16 controlling the electric motor 66 such that the return amount of the adjuster nut 68 to the inside in the width direction of the vehicle is a predetermined amount Hth when releasing the parking brake. A piston 62 is returned to the inside in the width direction of the vehicle together with a pad 51 by the fall or swing of a disk rotor 50 during the travel of the vehicle.
