<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetostrictive torque sensor having high detection accuracy. <P>SOLUTION: In the magnetostrictive torque sensor comprising a magnetostrictive part formed on a rotating shaft, a bobbin arranged so as to surround the circumference of the magnetostrictive part, and a coil wound around the bobbin to detect a change in a magnetic characteristic of the magnetostrictive part, the bobbin is fitted into the magnetostrictive part in contact with the magnetostrictive part so as to be relatively rotated. Since the bobbin is brought into contact with the magnetostrictive part, the coil can be arranged in the vicinity of the magnetostrictive part. Since the coil is close to the bobbin, temperature change occurring in the coil or the bobbin is quickly transferred to the other member. Because of the quick transfer, temperature difference between the coil and the magnetostrictive part is quickly corrected.
