<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a droplet discharge device preventing unnecessary ink from being attached to a recording medium, and has superior printing quality. <P>SOLUTION: A droplet discharge device includes a recording head with nozzles for discharging droplets, and a valve unit VL connected to the recording head and opening/closing a flow passage of liquid. The valve unit VL includes a valve seat 70 arranged in the flow passage, and a valve element 71 abuttable with the valve seat 70. The flow passage is closed by the abutment between the valve seat 70 and the valve element 71. In the valve seat 70, a liquid-repellent film 80 formed of a fluorine-based liquid-repellent agent having liquid repellency to the liquid boddy is formed in an abutment part to the valve element 71.
