PURPOSE: A complex crude drug extract of Hypsizigus mermoreus and a bamboo salt is provided to suppress adipogenic differentiation in 3T3-L1, mouse embryo fibroblast-derived adipocytes, to promote fatty acid oxidation, glycolysis, oxidative phosphorylation, and intracellular influx of carbohydrate, and to be used in a health functional food, a nutritional supplement, a food additive, and tea for preventing and treating metabolic syndrome. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating metabolic syndrome contains a complex crude drug extract of Hypsizigus mermoreus and a bamboo salt, as an active ingredient. The metabolic syndrome is selected from the group consisting of obesity, hyperlipidemia, and diabetes. The extract is prepared by extracting with a solvent selected from the group consisting of water, C1-C4 alcohols, and a mixture thereof. A health functional food and a nutritional supplement for preventing or treating metabolic syndrome contains a complex crude drug extract of Hypsizigus mermoreus and a bamboo salt, as an active ingredient. The health functional food is produced in the form of a powder, a granule, a tablet, a capsule, or a drink.
