PURPOSE: A slab underside inspecting system and an inspecting method are provided to detect periodic defects generated on a surface of a casting roll, thereby preventing additional damage to the casting roll. CONSTITUTION: A slab underside inspecting system is as follows. Original images of a surface of a slab are generated by photographing the slab generated by a casting roll(S10). Defects existing on the surface of the slab are detected by image-processing the original images(S20). The size of the detected defects is measured(S30). A kind of the detected defects is determined(S40).
