The system (2) has radiating elements (42) fixed along a carrying structure (44) of a log-periodic antenna (6). A carrying box (4) moves between closed and open positions and defines a housing to receive the antenna in a folded configuration. The structure is mounted on the box to move between a retracted position and a released position in which the structure extends outside the housing. A flexible strip of each element is unfolded by the displacement of the box between the positions and by displacement of the structure from the retracted position to the extended position. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for deploying a deployable antenna system (2) a method for folding a deployable antenna system.
