PURPOSE: A voice based authentication system and a method thereof are provided to strongly authenticate a user. CONSTITUTION: A storing unit stores user ID account information, mobile communication terminal information, and voice pattern information of a user. An authentication character string issuing unit(152) issues an authentication character string to a computer or a mobile communication terminal which requests voice-based authentication for a user ID account. A voice pattern extracting unit(153) extracts a voice pattern from a voice signal of a speaker inputted from the mobile communication terminal. A voice pattern verifying unit(154) compares the voice pattern extracted from the voice pattern extracting unit with a voice pattern of the user. A voice recognizing unit(155) recognizes a voice signal of the speaker. An authentication character string verifying unit compares the character string recognized in the voice recognizing unit with the authentication character string issued in the authentication character string issuing unit.
