PURPOSE: An image conversion device for converting a 2D image into a 3D image, a method thereof, and a recording medium thereof are provided to enable a user to input depth information of an object using a method which selects the object in the 2D image and moves the object to a Z-axis direction, thereby easily inputting the depth information. CONSTITUTION: A user input unit(120) receives an input for depth information using a method which moves a Z control point to a Z-axis direction by setting the Z control point in a selected object. A depth map generation unit(200) generates a depth map by recognizing the depth information. When the Z control point is moved, an image control unit(140) projects and displays the object on a virtual plane including the Z control point by the control of a display unit(130).
