PURPOSE: A vehicle approach warning system and an operating method thereof are provided to output an optimal warning sound suitable for a situation to a pedestrian or object. CONSTITUTION: An information supplying unit(30) supplies external information of a vehicle. A database unit(60) stores warning sound patterns. A control unit(40) selects warning sound patterns corresponding to the external information from the warning sound patterns. A warning operating unit(50) implements the selected warning sound pattern.
