PURPOSE: A composition containing quercitrin gallate is provided to suppress aldose reductase activity in vitro and to ensure anti-cataract ex vivo. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating diabetes complication contains qercitrin gallate or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof as an active ingredient. The quercitrin gallate is denoted by chemical formula 1. The diabetes complication includes diabetic retinopathy, diabetic glaucoma, cataract, diabetic nephropathy, or diabetic neuropathy. A health food for preventing and treating diabetes complication contains qercitrin gallate or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof as an active ingredient. |
