<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tool and a method of manufacturing the same, capable of increasing adhesion strength of a hard coating to a tool base material by providing the tool base material with sufficient work hardening while securing surface roughness. <P>SOLUTION: Surface treatment by femtosecond laser peening is applied to a tool base material 11 comprising cemented carbide, and the treated surface 11a is coated with a hard coating. Accordingly, the treated surface 11a is provided with sufficient work hardening while preventing deterioration in surface roughness in the treated surface 11a of the tool base material 11, and hence adhesion strength of the hard coating to the tool base material 11 may be increased. Because the peeling of the hard coating is thereby prevented, the effect such as wear resistance and heat resistance by the hard coating may be stably exhibited, and a tool superior in tool service life is provided. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
