<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of joining a metal and a polyolefin resin to each other by which a usual non-polar polyolefin resin can be strongly joined to the metal without applying an adhesive obtained by using an organic solvent, an anchor coating agent to the metal and the polyolefin resin or subjecting them to primer processing. <P>SOLUTION: The method of joining the metal and the polyolefin resin to each other is carried out by forming a surface modified layer on the surface of a resin base material comprising the polyolefin resin, simultaneously forming a chemical conversion layer or a surface roughened layer on the surface of a metal base material, causing the surface modified layer to face the chemical conversion layer or the surface roughened layer and heating and press-adhereing the resin base material and the metal base material.
