A casing (5) for an outdoor unit comprises: support columns (27) which each have upstanding walls (41-46) disposed in the vertical direction; and a top plate (24) which is mounted on the upper ends of the support columns (27). Substantially horizontal contact sections (51, 52) are provided at the upper end of each of the support columns (27). The contact sections (51, 52) are each extended upward from at least a part of each of the upstanding walls (41, 42) and are in surface contact with the lower surface of the top plate (24) in such a manner that the top plate (24) is vertically separated from the upper ends of the upstanding walls (41-46).
