PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a device and a method for securing the proper sterilization of a container wall even if the emission of charge carriers temporarily fails.

SOLUTION: Each individual sterilizing device 20 has a moving device 14 for moving the container 10 in a longitudinal direction L of the container 10 with respect to a rod-like charge carrier guiding device 26. The movement progress of each container 10 with respect to the charge carrier guiding device 26 combined with the container 10 can be controlled individually and independently from one another. At least one detecting device 30 is arranged to detect a failure of acceleration charge carriers of each individual sterilizing device 20. When the failure of the acceleration charge carriers of the sterilizing device 20 is detected by the detecting device 30, the moving device 14 is connected to the detecting device 30 by a signal in a manner that relative movement between the sterilizing device 20 and the container 10 sterilized by the sterilizing device 20 is stopped or reversed.
