<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piston ring including a sprayed coating which has more excellent seize resistance than multiple-layer chromium plating and workability equivalent to or better than that of multiple-layer chromium plating. <P>SOLUTION: This piston ring includes a sprayed coating containing tungsten carbide and chromium carbide as a hard phase, and nickel as a metallic bond phase. The sprayed coating is formed by thermal spraying of thermal spray powder which is prepared by means of a granulation sintering method, the thermal spray powder including hard particles obtained by adjusting an average grain size of the tungsten carbide in the range of 0.15 μm or more and 0.45 μm or less by a BET method. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
