摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve transmittance for light and to suppress generation of persistence in a liquid crystal display panel having a photo-alignment layer. <P>SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display device comprises a liquid crystal panel in which pixels each having an active element, a pixel electrode, a common electrode, and a liquid crystal layer, are arranged in a dot matrix. The liquid crystal display panel comprises: a first substrate; a second substrate; and a liquid crystal layer disposed between the first substrate and the second substrate. The first substrate comprises: the active element; the pixel electrode; the common electrode; and a first alignment layer. The second substrate comprises a second alignment layer. The first alignment layer and the second alignment layer are optical alignment layers respectively formed by irradiating photo-decomposition type insulating films with light.
