<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet discriminating device at low cost. <P>SOLUTION: The discriminating device has a lever moved while being pushed by a sheet conveyed by a conveying means, and a photo interrupter changing an on/off state according to the position of the lever. The device includes: measuring an elapsed time, from when the on/off state of the photo interrupter changes from a standby state by the movement of the lever pushed by a tip end of the sheet conveyed, until when the on/off state of the photo interrupter returns to the standby state by the sheet passing through the lever; and determining that the sheet is thick as the measured elapsed time is long. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
