<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a monitoring system capable of effectively prevent an inauthentic person from tailgating intrusion, by improving convenience for a regular authorized person by accurately grasping the number of people to be authenticated. <P>SOLUTION: A monitor system applied to facilities where a shared area and a controlled area are separated by a door 1 comprises a device 12 for measuring the number of people that uses an image where a camera 10 has imaged a prescribed region in the shared area, specifies a person to be authenticated who is moving from the shared area to the controlled area, and measures the number of people to be authenticated.
