<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-base ink composition for ball point pen, which satisfies dry-up resistance even in a water-base ink using a shear-thinning tackifier, that is applicable to a writing material having a simple structure, further can suppress separation of ink even in an ink using a relatively large pigment, and thus can develop long-term stable writing performance, and a ball point pen containing the same. <P>SOLUTION: The water-base ink composition for ball point pen contains a coloring agent, water, a shear-thinning tackifier and β-glucan.
