<p>This skew correction device (116) has a second roller pair (114), a first roller pair (115), and a registration roller pair (120), in the stated order in the sheet conveyance direction. When the roller pairs (114, 115) convey a sheet, the leading end of the sheet runs into the nip of the registration roller pair (120). The sheet forms a loop between the roller pairs (114, 115) and the registration roller pair (120), and the leading end of the sheet follows the nip. The first roller pair (115) has an upper roller (115a) and a lower roller (115b). Either the spacing or the pressing force between the two rollers (115a, 115b) can be switched. If the sheet is wide or has a large basis weight, the first roller pair (115) is opened before the leading end of the sheet runs into the nip; otherwise, the first roller pair (115) is kept closed. A proper loop can accordingly be formed irrespective of the size or stiffness of the sheet.</p> |
