<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an embolus forming coil that is indwelled at a predetermined position in a body lumen, has practical mechanical properties as an embolus forming coil to embolize the body lumen, and prevents the occurrence of artifacts during imaging by MRI scan. <P>SOLUTION: The embolus forming coil is indwelled at a predetermined position in a body lumen and used for embolizing the body lumen. A coil wire is made of an Au<SB POS="POST">x</SB>Pt<SB POS="POST">100-x</SB>alloy (X=60 to 90) and its bulk susceptibility is set such that the absolute value of the difference (Δχ) between the bulk susceptibilities of the alloy and water is ≤15 ppm. It is particularly preferable that X=71.5 to 72. Further, it is also preferable that the diameter of the coil wire is 35 to 120 μm and the coil wire is not subjected to heat treatment after wire drawing. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
