<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refrigerator which is improved in freshness preservation performance and ease of use in addition to energy saving performance. <P>SOLUTION: The refrigerator includes a temperature detecting unit which detects a temperature within a storage room, a storage amount estimating unit 23 which estimates a storage amount within the storage room, a storing unit 64 which stores an estimation result of the storage amount estimating unit 23, a cooling unit which cools the inside of the storage room, and a calculation controlling unit 22 which performs calculation based on input data of the temperature detecting unit, the storage amount estimating unit 23, and the storing unit 64 to control the cooling unit, wherein the calculation controlling unit 22 controls an output operation of the cooling unit based on a temperature of the temperature detecting unit during a normal operation and further controls the cooling unit prior to a temperature change to control the output operation of an electrical function part while quickly responding to the storage change amount when it is determined that the storage amount within the storage room changes.
