A centering and edging method for centering and edging the outer circumference of a lens (16), molded using a mold, by clamping the lens (16) with a pair of bell clamp holders, the method comprising: a first step of positioning the lens (16) with respect to a guiding part (41) of a positioning member (40) that is capable of positioning the lens (16) using the flat part (16C) of the lens (16) molded by the molding surface of the mold; and a second step of clamping the lens (16), positioned in the first step, with a holder on one side and a holder on the other side so that the optical axis of the lens (16) coincides with the central axis of the holder on one side. The centering and edging method is able to prevent damage of the optical surface or the anti-reflective film of the lens being machined when a non-spherical or spherical lens is the lens being centered and edged by machining.
