<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cable tracing method which allows multiple groups to perform cable tracing operations simultaneously in a plant and expedites operations even under an environment with exposure to noise. <P>SOLUTION: The cable tracing apparatus includes a plurality of transmitters for applying electric signals onto different cables to be traced, magneto-electric conversion elements for detecting current flowing through the cables, and a receiver for identifying a cable being traced from phase information carried by the electric signals. The electric signals are orthogonal frequency division multiplexed signals with a plurality of subcarriers carrying predetermined first phase information and each of the electric signals transmitted by the plurality of transmitters has different subcarriers. The receiver includes a phase allocation information storage section for pre-storing the first phase information allocated to the subcarriers by a first transmitter and frequency information of the subcarriers among received electric signals, a phase information acquisition section for acquiring a second phase information from subcarriers of the same frequency, and a phase identification section for identifying the cable being traced using the difference between the second phase information and the first phase information. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
